Welcome to MidWest Saddle Fit

Helping horse and rider find balance

About Meghan

Saddle fitter Meghan Downing and her horse Sharps

I started this career in saddle fitting after watching my mentor, Ann Jacobson with Jacobson's Saddlery, thoroughly, thoughtfully, and safely saddle fit my growing thoroughbred gelding for over 7 years.  During this time I built my career as a Certified Surgical First Assistant at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn, and worked part-time with a local FEI dressage rider, trainer, and instructor.

Recently, I decided to change my career.  I had aspired to acquire my bachelor's degree in nursing as it seemed like the most logical step within healthcare with endless opportunities.  Nursing was not the right career change and Ann graciously took me under her wing and has spent countless hours teaching me the ropes of this intricate career, and continues to do so!

In addition to working with a mentor, have begun my education through the North American Saddlery School, in conjunction with the Society of Master Saddlery, and will be an SMS Trainee.  My goal is to continue my education, with my mentor, over the next few years to become a Qualified Saddle Fitter.

Hours of operation

In addition to saddle fitting services, Meghan works in the health care setting with varying hours. Please feel free to reach out at anytime to check for availability.
